Special Resourced Provision for physically disabled pupils
At Westlea Primary School there is a Special Resourced Provision (SRP) for Physically Disabled (PD) Pupils. Mrs. Carroll is the teacher and coordinator of the SRP; and there is a fabulous team of Teaching Assistants and Health Carers to help her ensure that all the needs of the physically disabled pupils are being met.
We are a very active and busy bunch!!! One of the SRP PD pupils says "We have lots of fun!"
This term we will be swimming at the hydrotherapy pool on:
Tuesday 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st January
Tuesday 7th, 21st and 28th February
Tuesday 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th March
We have also been invited to the Access Activity Day at the Link Centre on Friday 24th February! We'll have such fun as we will get to try out all different sporting activities such as ice skating (wheelchair users too!), climbing, trampolining and swimming this year!!
A team from Zurich Cares are taking us on an 'all expenses paid' trip to Hop, Skip and Jump in Cheltenham on Friday 27th January. Fingers crossed that we get to go as this is the third date that's been arranged!! Third time lucky??
We are so looking forward to it - we can't wait!!
On Wednesday 4th January students from Greendown came to lead a Boccia Workshop as Westlea SRP PD had been asked to enter a team in the County Boccia Competition on Thursday 12th January! Did you know that Boccia is a Paralympic sport?
On Thursday 12th January we were all thrilled that the team - "The Westlea Lions" came fourth in the County Boccia Competition at The Next Generation Gym. There were 10 teams that they were competing against with "The Commonweal Conquerors" winning!! All of the team members of this winning team used to be pupils at Westlea!!
