My profession is a Facilities, Health & Safety and Events Manager and I work on various projects in Swindon. I am extremely privileged to be a Governor of Westlea Primary School
Sarah Sumner - Headteacher
I joined Westlea in 2004. Since I started, I have taught in every year group, managed the SRP and was the Deputy Headteacher for 7 years. My passion for teaching is underpinned by inclusion for every pupil and SEND. I teach in Y6 on a Wednesday afternoon, but am always keen to pop in and teach lessons across the school.
I started at Westlea in 2006 as a TA and MDSA and gained my HLTA status in 2011. I also taught KS1&2 Swimming and PE. In 2013 just before we converted to Academy status I moved into the office to support the Bursar, responsible for staffing, pupils and data. In 2016 I became the Office Manager and then in May 2019, due to the Bursar leaving, I took on the finance role and I am really enjoying my new challenge. As Mrs Sumner’s TA back in 2010-2013 it is lovely to be back working with her again in our new roles! I am also Staff Governor.
I run my family owned business in Rodbourne Road, and am a ward Councillor for Swindon Borough Council. I am proud and honoured to be a Governor at Westlea Primary School where currently I have two children attending. I will be working with my colleagues and the teachers to ensure Westlea is recognised as the best primary educational institute.
I work and have a degree in early years. I am the deputy manager of Bramble House Nursery. I have a daughter who attends Westlea Primary School and is part of the SRP. I became a Parent Governor in 2016. I am the Vice Chair of Governors and I am also a member of the curriculum and staffing committees.
I am a Learning Mentor and Deputy Safeguarding Lead at a post-16 education provider for young people with barriers to learning such as learning difficulties and behavioural issues. I have worked with children and young people for the last 18 years. I am trained in Special Educational Needs, Early Years Care and Education, Youth Work as well as Counselling.
I have 2 children that both go to Westlea Primary School.
Louise Edmonds - Deputy Headteacher
I started teaching at Westlea in 2003 and was initially the MFL Co-ordinator. Currently, I am the SENCo, the SRP Lead and the Deputy Headteacher. Throughout my teaching career I have been interested in investigating different ways to promote inclusive education.
I work for a local Housing Association as their Head of Reward and People Operations, I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management and have recently trained as a restorative justice facilitator and Mental Health First Aider.
I am a Co-opted Governor and have 2 sons, 1 of which attends Westlea Primary School.

I have a passion for achieving the right outcome. Often you will find me running polling stations and election duties.
I work as a Children's Placements and Brokerage Officer, finding and monitoring placements for Swindon's children in care. Previous to this, I worked as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant in various schools and pre-schools and completed a Degree in Early Childhood Studies.
