Bob Barrett - Chairman of Governors
I am a Governor appointed by the Link Collaborative Trust, the Chair of the Staffing Committee and the Vice Chair of the Premises Committee. My profession is a Facilities, Health & Safety and Events Manager and I work on various projects in Swindon. I am extremely privileged to be a Governor of Westlea Primary School
I am a Parent Governor, a member of the staffing and curriculum committee and the SEND Governor. I have two children attending Westlea Primary School. I am an academic by profession with a background in political philosophy specialising in religious nationalism. I have written one book and co-edited two. Currently, I am working for the Bible Society as an International Advocacy Officer.
I have been an SRP Governor since September 2016. However, in my role as Deputy Headteacher, I have attended meetings as an observer since 2013. I am the SRP Manager, Acting Head Monday to Thursday lunchtimes and teach Reception on a Friday. I am also the Healthy Schools co-ordinator.
I run my family owned business in Rodbourne Road, and am a ward Councillor for Swindon Borough Council. I am proud and honoured to be a Governor at Westlea Primary School where currently I have two children attending. I will be working with my colleagues and the teachers to ensure Westlea is recognised as the best primary educational institute.
I work and have a degree in early years. I am the deputy manager of Bramble House Nursery. I have a daughter who attends Westlea Primary School and is part of the SRP. I became a Parent Governor in 2016. I am the Vice Chair of Governors and I am also a member of the curriculum and staffing committees.
Jayne Dickinson is the Westlea Clerk of Governors.
I started my career in Walsall and taught there for 14 years before moving to Malvern and becoming Headteacher at Northleigh Primary, which was the same size as Westlea. We achieved many great things at the school, my proudest moments being excellent and sustained KS1 and KS2 results, delightful children and our very successful link with a school in Tanzania. I was constantly amazed and humbled at how the children always thought of others before themselves and never stopped helping and supporting local, national and international charities. I know this to be the case at Westlea also.
I am a retired Royal Air Force pilot. I served tours of duty in Germany, Holland, Norway and with NATO in Belgium. I am delighted to be appointed a Governor of such a fine school as Westlea, which has respect as one of its major core values. I am a member of the Finance committee and Chairman of the Curriculum committee.
